Art History

The Art History Research Guide provides a general overview of tools for conducting research in art and architectural history, both within and outside the Rutgers University Libraries system. The Art Library, located on the College Ave campus in New Brunswick, houses the main collection for materials on art history. Subject areas of particular strength include Western European art (especially Renaissance and Baroque art in Italy) and American art and architecture. Russian art and architecture holdings also form an important part of the collection. The Art Library continues to expand its holdings in African, Asian, Jewish, Islamic, and Latin American arts and the history of photography and the graphic arts in support of expanding curricular offerings. There are also significant art history materials at Special Collections, Douglass Library, Robeson Library, and Dana Library. Please contact Sara Harrington or Joe Consoli, the librarians for Art History, with any questions or comments.
